A strangely fascinating subject. Our society evolves, it has become more and more respectful of everyone's rights but, in doing so, it's also become D-U-L-L dull. And much less creative.
So here's a top 5 of the most daring and outrageous album covers from wilder but more imaginative times. Beginning with THE controversial cover.
When it came out, the pre-pubescent girl holding a toy plane on the front cover of Blind Faith's eponymous album caused riots. But no one banned it or sent Stevie Winwood to jail. Today it's apparently accepted because people thinks it's Robert Plant as a kid or a painting.
The one that is really sleazy and close to actual porn comes from one of the most insipid band in music history, Foreigner. On it, a teenage girl (a young groupie in mini-skirt and high heels) is caught removing writings from a restroom. The album's name? "Head Games". I rest my case.
Another very famous one is the cover for The Scorpions' "Animal Magnetism". Yeah, it's so chauvinistic and rude it's ridiculous. But Hipgnosis designed it, so it's cool. And it was never replaced.
Number 4 wasn't really that controversial and millions of kids fapped to it.
And finally our last entry. Lesson learned: things can only get worse and, second, be careful what you wish for.
