It's WMV and it's really stupid to convert them into divx or what you want because you loose quality.
There are many solutions to read a WMV clip on your TV:
* burn it into CD/DVD and read it with a dvd player compatible with WMV9 (or superior)
* move it onto a multimedia HDD compatible with WMV
* through Xbox (internal DVD player or connection to the computer with Media Center)
* through a DVD player connected to the computer with Windows Media Connect or WMP 11.
* connect your computer to your TV with a GC offering a port like SVIDEO, HDMI, DVI etc...
