Connection errors - EBI?

Postby Lee on Tue Dec 02, 2008 8:49 pm

I seem to be getting connection errors quite regulary here, they may only last a couple of minutes. I assume it's a problem here as I can surf elsewhere with no problems.
I'm sure you guys behind the scenes are aware of it but I just thought I'd bring the matter up. This is a screen grab of the message.

It's normal, it depends on the traffic and it's temporary and doesn't affect the main site.

Thanks sbando.
I assumed it could be a traffic issue but I didn't think the forum part of the site received enough traffic to cause a problem.

This time it took some input by the admins, hence the three hour-wait (connecting through SSH, issuing a command).

If this is a server issue surely a change is in order. There doesn't seem to be a day where there's not a connection problem. It becomes frustrating when you're trying to post something & it takes ages to go through.
I don't think I've come across a site that continually has problems like this.
What is it with that too many connections issue? Surely that can't be true.
There again, I don't know the ins & outs of these things.

Has it been since the change over to phpbb3?
I would assume this is a server problem.

We're on an Ikea lamp. Of course it's a dedicated server!
It's normal you get a max connections reached message, it's not normal when MySQL crashes.
