Take my word that all the adult icons and leaders in this industry do have brains and they have a future.

Nothing more to say.

Again, many of your observations on the issue of copyright are spot-on, but this trend will still hurt people like us (or BEP, since he mentioned it).

Remember that even these pages are kept on-line by paying costumers. No scratch, no snatch.

Probably in 2050 people will download movies directly to their dick but what do I care? Do you want the EBI, the thumbs sites, the GREAT content that DDF, Sandy, PG etc. have provided so far or not?

aren´t you talking about 1929/32 ?
even usa,due to subprime crisis, is only in mental recession,
but not in real economy so far

if porn industry is decreasing, like in music industry, a 360° deal
could be a solution, i.e. managing the stars, and get money for
escort services...
in music industry cd sales fall since beginning of the decade,
but the artist nowadays live quit well from merchandising and
touring (porn: escort, eventually dancing)

and very soon we´ll get the statement from the teacher with the
right attitude, who knows everything at least better and he should have the last word, as always (that´s how it seems to be in arrogant
media industry)

Porn Stars and people involved in the adult entertainment will never get the same as the mainstream working performers and celebrities or fashion top models. But who knows, in the (near) future in can come that far.

PS: media and mainstream will be the final level to keep the adult industry alive.

Regards.

You pay for your connection and electricity but you won't perceive it as a purchase if you can download 10 movies a days, music and software. A Rapidshare account is a few euros a month. I have friends that keep eMule running 24/7 and use Bittorrent and Rapidshare, at once.

Again, no one says it should be illegal, I won't root for the RIIA or Brein, I don't think that's the best way to solve the problem. But THERE IS a problem for content creators, let's not fool ourselves! Also, I agree that in the 90's there was some generic idea of digital freedom behind warez, but now?? Most of these kids are right wingers full of bias.

I agree with all of that, but I have to say, with current technology, bittorent and rapidshare seem like a waste of time. You can pay $30 for a month at a site like Handson, download a scene a day, say, with a girl you know you like, with sex you know you'll like, at decent download speeds (not 3kbs like bittorent and not split into pieces like rapidshare), basically at DVD quality (not these 200 MB low quality files you mostly find at the leech sites) burn them to your own DVD (I burn no more than 3 scenes to a DVD to preserve quality - a DVD-R costs about 25 cents here on the west coast of the US), and watch them at your leisure (I do not like to watch porn at the computer). This is well worth the money. Huge saving of time, much more satisfaction.

Why is anyone buying/renting full 5 scene DVDs anymore? I used to rent at xrentDVD, but discontinued that account about 6 months ago. What I describe above is so much better. And it saves money, not to mention the frustration of renting the DVD, waiting for it, not really liking most of it, sending it back, waiting again. (Buying is even worse.)

If you have a broadband connection and a decent DVD burner, together with software like VisualHub (which is brilliant), this is quite simple.

Back to the main point: I can't see why people don't download from various websites for a paltry 30 bucks for one month rather than waste all their time being free leechers. Time is money.

Double yes for this, but what makes you think you cannot simply put a "Reserve a date with me now" button right below the links? And that's not 2050.

I understand that porn business will never survive solely on guys who can daily afford to pay a grand for a 6 hour dinner with Bara. It's a poor man's show.

But even then if one is the "living better then owning" kind, instead of buying an (otherwise fantastic) 12 DVD Superfuckers collection for a mere 150E, you can get a 2 hours' companion meeting at 300E. And yes, if she's semi-known pornstar you will then feel bigger-the-ever. This will drive your motivation at work, self-awareness, mood... Yes, kind of an illusion, but hey, it keeps the wheels rolling.

No, it's not a truly holistic view, but it's the one that works out for me. Oh, how low has the industry fallen since the sweet "35-reel" seventies. Not that I remember it anyway... :)

Why awfully?
We cannot write here everything in order to respect the privacy (and efforts of our beloved eurogirls) but the so called mainstream showbiz owes a lot to the porn showbiz also if they remain officially separated.

The wall is not so thick in some countries like Hungary (but also Italy and France)... and even in the US things change.
We could speak a lot on the bad sides of porn becoming mainstream but the good side is that finally people accept porn and those working for (especially actresses) as a part of our world.
And if a pornstar become a star of the mainstream tv or a celebrity for me that's good sign.
And, finally, it is a win against morons and f*ng pharisee of every side.

But I admit that the search of money for the current pornbiz is another point....
DP and cum are part of porn; DAP and swallows are for porn-stars!

there will be always a wall between adult and mainstream, but to bring the 2 together in the right concept can mean for the adult industry an extra feedback that is reaching a bigger audience because of the mainstream.
