Firstly, wasn't sure if to post this in this topic or in the "Nonsense" one because it has become pure nonsense.
Okay, so Russia wins in 2008 helped along nicely by neighbouring countries all giving them 12 points. In reality, the Greek song was the winner as it only received undeserved points from Cyprus whereas 50-60% of Russia's and the Ukraine's votes were purely undeserved and politically motivated.
I have checked out a few forums tonight in regards to what is being said about the results around Europe and the West of Europe are all thinking the same thing... is this competition actually worth entering anymore given that its impossible to win due to the massive amount of unfair votes given to undeserving songs through political motivations.
The UK came last along with Germany and Poland (all tied on 14 points) yet the songs were all decent and deserved far higher. Ireland, the seven times winner of Eurovision, failed to qualify (they are to blame though for making a song that had lyrics totally knocking the "credibility" of Eurovision).
I personally hope that the "big four" (namely Germany, Spain, France and the UK), reconsider their positions regarding this pointlessly irksome competition and withdraw their financial support making the Eurovision contest a thing of the past, rather than something to dread each year.
Let Eastern Europe get on with it....
Incidentally, when did Azerbadjan and Israel actually become part of Europe! Azerbadjan is situated north of Iran!! Will China and maybe even the US be entering the EUROvision song contest soon!
