It not unusual for such sites to have a trojan or malicious link in an iframe ad in it, marketing with personal data collected by malware in far better business that income from memberships. Sad but true.

For end user it's always good practice to:
1/ access these sites form computer without any sensitive data or use virtual machine and run apps in sandbox
2/ have a updated software and good uptodate antivirus with antiphising capability and site advisor plugin
3/ have correctly setup firewall to allow only minimum nessesary traffic
