Dont compare the prices on the Nevsky with a local store in the outskirts of Barcelona!
The reports cited by camarillo etc. are dealing with expat life in foreign cities, but we are talking about locals living in their local Russian community.
I have been many many times to Russia - and even for sure Piter got more expensive in recent years, it is not six times more expensive than Budapest!
You still can eat out at 300 Rubles - if you dont drink champaign or Armenian cognac that is!
A phd haveing studied for 5 years or more may earn as little as 1600 $ per year if he/she is unlucky. Not every phd earns 150 000 $ per year! And we are talking about 18 or 19 y.o. student girls (many of them from Petrozavodsk or other provincial towns) here. So come down please and dont call me a rassist!
