I remember first hearing about her in about 2005 when the bulk of porn films I was watching were by Private. For ages I avoided her films like the plague as I assumed that being a female director her stuff would be "soft" or made primarily for women, eg with a focus on being erotic rather than the hardcore porn us guys love
. Finally taking the plunge (with The Wild Circle first I think) I was absolutely blown away by her style. The whole "gothic" aesthetic she had I can really take or leave (I don't have a problem with it though) - what she absolutely excelled at was creating porn flicks that flowed from scene to scene but were also superbly edited and ultra-hardcore. "Gonzo" they most certainly weren't, but then nor did they overcomplicate things. "Straight to anal" was a key element and her guys (I couldn't actually name any I don't think, which is a good thing) just seemed to go on and on and the lust just gleamed from her female porn stars eyes as they were pounded in all holes for what often seemed like forever. 
I read an interview with her once where she said the key to making good porn was to "Get the best sluts in the business to buy into what you're doing" or something and she absolutely nailed that. Girls like Julie Silver, Lucy Lee, Ellen Saint and Jessica May were regulars and did their best work in her films IMHO.
I think that far from my original fear she basically directed porn like a man (no-nonsense, essentially). And far from encouraging the annoying antics we see so often from male porn stars, I suspect she told her guys to shut up and just let their cocks do the talking. Totally refreshing. The storylines were generally geared around the girls, although a common theme was gangs of guys with leaders and the like who had sort of "free reign" over girls on their radar but those scenes were always done with a totally convincing "buy in" from the girls and again no aggression or bullying from the guys. And once the sex started, the girls and not the guys were the focus.
Basically her stuff was fantastic. The aforementioned The Wild Circle, Draculya The Girls Are Hungry and Theatre Of Lust in particular are absolute hardcore porn classics.
I'd absolutely love it if she started making porn again, anyone else agree or as much of a fan as me?
