Porn music

Postby General Bear on Mon Oct 26, 2009 4:40 pm

Isn´t anyone else who thinks that music is an essential part in whether a film is good or not? I think one of the reasons why I liked "Hell is where the Party is" from Harmony and made by Louis Xypher is the good hard music. Especially the dp scene with Viva Style was enhanced by the music. That film is one of the best this year and I would like to see more films made in that fashion.

A DP scene with Viva Style aka Blue Angel? She only works with her boyfriend Christian Devil. This must be a scene before this relationship, so it must be an older one.

To the music: I haven't seen this movie but for me music in porn normally destroys the atmosphere, and therefore my viewing pleasure. The Anal Gate movies from Woodman production filmed by David Perry comes to my mind. The sex scenes mostly were very good, but the shit heavy music makes it nearly unwatchable for me.

The key to music in porn is getting the volume levels right. You need just enough background noise to fill the dead space, but you don't want the music to steel the show or start kicking in too loud. I'm a part time musician and every now and then I hear some really bad porn music, but for the most part I don't even notice it. Bad porn music is like the intro to Seinfeld with that funky slap bass..

One thing Sineplex always got right was their use of music. Just enough in the beginning to properly set the mood of the scene during the tease/play sections, then cut it out for the duration. Hell, I even quite enjoyed their simple synthy loops on their own merits, but that may just be my raver preference. Not that they're the only ones to do this (Clark's good at this too), but for some reason they're the first that springs to mind.

The only guy I can recall that seems able to do the 'music through whole scene' in an excellent way is Darko, but he doesn't do much euro stuff, so he doesn't really get much of a mention here.
